Polaris Floats Explanation

Polaris floats work like this

The Polaris float has a special bore hole that sits in the base of the float, the line is subsequently threaded into the float, the line runs freely on a bit of slack until it is tensioned.

Polaris floats are fished together with either a feeder or lead to cast out the float. When you see the float tip rise above the surface, this is when you [the angler] tightens up the line so locking the float at that depth. This system outweighs the slider on deep-watered and windy fisheries.
